artist portrait

I’m a visual artist, terminal user, and archivist of retro technology. Based in NYC. This site is a memory dump of my work.

After my ā gōng [grandpa] passed in 2024, I began creating art more seriously. Initially, I used it as a mechanism to channel my grief, but then became fascinated by the dissonance that occupies this city. Specifically, how so many people in such close quarters and regular daily interactions can also feel simultaneously isolated. Beyond that, through the Sad Girls series, I began to explore the universality of sadness and its reminder of our shared humanity.

In parallel, I developed the Machines project. I grew up in a small town in Los Angeles. My father was a watchsmith / mechanic / craftsman, always tinkering with his latest curiosity. His office was more akin to an inventor’s workshop. His desk was filled with tiny screws, gears, pins, and miniature tools. I am my father’s daughter, taking from his love of repair and creation. I’m drawn to the visual language of outdated devices and, in many cases, their obsolescence—-the ugly sister of progress. Technological relics, while no longer useful, are not without utility. They hold stories, provide us with context, and gift us with nostalgia.

I take pleasure in the discarded, the disregarded, and the possibility of unearthing their forgotten stories.
